3. How we use information
RouteEd uses information to:
- provide student transportation visibility to schools, parents, and guardians;
- verify student boarding, pickup, drop-off, and guardian-authorized handover activity;
- support school route management, driver accountability, and compliance reporting;
- send operational alerts, arrival updates, route notifications, and safety-related messages;
- process pilot requests, support enquiries, onboarding, and school communication;
- improve RouteEd features, reliability, safety, analytics, and user experience;
- protect against misuse, unauthorized access, fraud, or safety risks;
- comply with applicable legal, regulatory, security, and operational obligations.
4. Children’s and student data
RouteEd may process student-related transportation data only for school transportation visibility, safety, accountability, and operational purposes. Schools are responsible for ensuring they have appropriate authority, consent, parent communication, and internal approvals before uploading, linking, or activating student transport records on RouteEd.
5. Schools, parents, and data responsibility
Schools are responsible for maintaining accurate student, route, driver, and guardian records. Parents and guardians are responsible for keeping their contact information and guardian permissions up to date. RouteEd processes information to provide the platform and related safety services.
6. Legal basis and data protection approach
RouteEd aims to handle personal data responsibly and in line with applicable data protection principles, including lawful processing, purpose limitation, data minimization, accuracy, security, accountability, and respect for user rights. Nigeria’s data protection framework is supervised by the Nigeria Data Protection Commission under the Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023.
7. Sharing of information
RouteEd does not sell personal data. We may share necessary information with:
- the school connected to the transportation activity;
- authorized parents and guardians linked to a student;
- assigned drivers and transport coordinators for operational purposes;
- service providers that help us operate hosting, analytics, email, form processing, payment, messaging, security, or customer support systems;
- law enforcement, regulators, courts, or authorities where required by law or necessary to protect safety, rights, or platform integrity.
8. Third-party services
RouteEd may use trusted third-party services for hosting, form submissions, analytics, messaging, payments, email delivery, maps, and customer communication. These providers process information only as needed to support RouteEd operations.
9. Data retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide RouteEd services, maintain transportation records, support school compliance, resolve disputes, meet legal obligations, and improve platform safety. Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information, school agreement, legal requirement, or operational need.
10. Security
RouteEd uses reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. However, no internet-based system is completely risk-free, and users should keep account credentials and devices secure.
11. User rights
Subject to applicable law and identity verification, users may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection regarding certain personal information. Some requests may need to be coordinated through the relevant school because the school controls key student and transportation records.
12. International access
RouteEd may allow parents, guardians, schools, and operators to access the platform from outside Nigeria. This supports Global Family Visibility™, especially for diaspora parents monitoring RouteEd-enabled school transportation.
13. Cookies and analytics
RouteEd may use cookies, local storage, analytics tools, and similar technologies to improve website performance, understand usage, secure the platform, and enhance user experience.
14. Contact us

15. Updates to this policy
RouteEd may update this Privacy Policy as the platform evolves. Updated versions will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
